Borough is renowned as one of London's most iconic food districts, but there's more to it than meets the eye.

This month, we're excited to share our 'Bancone Insider Guide to Borough', featuring our top recommendations for a memorable day out during your next visit to Bancone Borough Yards. Read on to find out more.

FOOD & DRINK

Bread Ahead Bakery - @BreadAheadbakery

When visiting Borough Market it’s an absolute must to swing by Bread Ahead Bakery to try their famous doughnuts.

If you don't fancy a sweet treat then there are plenty of savoury delights to choose from too. We’d recommend trying their creme brulee doughnut (which went viral for good reason!), a fluffy doughnut shell, packed with vanilla custard and topped with a crispy layer of caramelised brown sugar. Or go back to the basics with their classic simple raspberry jam filling.

Kolae

Kolae @Kolae_London

Kolae is a Thai bar and grill concept created by the talented team behind East London’s cult favourite Som Saa. The food is vibrant and spicy made with carefully sourced ingredients. From the coconut cream made fresh in the restaurant each morning, to the stone-ground curry pastes which are made in-house. The menu is small but impressive with big bold flavours. If you’re looking for a lively buzz, book downstairs where there’s an open kitchen or for a more cosy space, head upstairs.

Swift - @Swiftbars

Swift Borough is an award-winning cocktail bar split over two floors. Upstairs is bright, airy and elegant, perfect for catching up with friends over a cocktail or glass of wine. Downstairs in the ‘Back Pocket’, is Swift Borough’s little secret. An exclusive speakeasy style drinking destination hidden away downstairs, featuring an array of specially crafted cocktails inspired by seasonal ingredients from Borough Market.

Bancone - @Bancone.pasta

Bancone Borough Yards sits within a recently restored complex of charming railway arches and features a buzzing open kitchen and counter-top dining, plus a beautiful private mezzanine space upstairs, available to hire for parties and events.

SHOPPING

Flea Market at Vinegar Yard - @FleaLondon

Flea London is a jam-packed vintage and makers market open every weekend located in Vinegard Yard just around the corner from Borough Market. The market is carefully curated and has an eclectic mix of vintage fashion, antiques, vinyls, books, jewellery and much more.

Ginger Pig - @gingerpigltd

Ginger Pig is one of London’s most iconic butchers sourcing meat from a wonderful array of native British rare breed livestock, with an emphasis on good animal welfare. Their exceptional meat is skilfully butchered leaving nothing to waste – the offal, sausages and pies are as prized as the prime cuts. You can experience their high quality produce on the menu at Bancone Borough Yards with our signature dish Chargrilled Ginger Pig pork chop, radicchio, apple, crispy pig skin.

Turnips - @TurnipsBorough

Walk through Borough Yards and we’re pretty sure you’ll take a second glance when walking past Turnips. Foodies from all over the world head there for their beautiful displays of fresh fruit and veg piled high with a carefully curated abundant display of THE highest quality produce from around Britain. At the moment, this season offers the ripest strawberries (with the option to coat them in an indulgent serving of melted chocolate!), fresh peas, wild garlic, asaparagus (white, green, purple - all of it!) and Noirmoutier potatoes.

CULTURE

White Cube Gallery - @WhiteCube

The White Cube gallery is one of the world's leading contemporary art galleries located in Bermondsey just a short walk from Borough Market. The gallery has exhibited the work of many of the world’s most highly acclaimed contemporary artists and is completely free to visit too. For the art aficionados, a major solo exhibition by Tracey Emin will take place later this year featuring her new paintings, works on paper and a monumental bronze sculpture.

We hope you enjoy exploring London Bridge as an insider and look forward to seeing you in for some delicious pasta soon.
